Sizing and fit

This is a free-size set. The lehenga waist is adjustable and fits comfortably up to 42 inches; the blouse is stitched to a 38 inch bust with margin left inside to let out to 42 inches, so a local tailor can open it up in a few minutes if you need the extra room.

The lehenga length is 41 inches from waist to hem, which sits at the ankle on most heights between 5'2" and 5'6". If you are taller, wear it with a heel; if you are shorter, the hem can be taken up without disturbing the gotta patti lace, since the lace runs along the border rather than across the panels.

Styling it

Oxidised silver suits this set better than gold: the mustard and white in the Gamthi embroidery already carry the warmth, and silver keeps the two from competing. A chunky silver choker, stacked bangles on both wrists and jhumkas are enough. Keep the hair simple — a side braid or an open wave — so the dupatta stays the thing people notice.

For garba, tie the dupatta at the waist rather than draping it over the shoulder. It keeps the embroidered panel visible while you turn and stops the fabric swinging into your face during faster rounds.

Care

First wash separately by hand in cold water; the deep red and mehendi green are best kept away from lighter fabrics. Dry in shade to hold the colour. Press the gotta patti lace and the Gamthi embroidery from the reverse side, and store folded rather than hung so the flair does not pull out of shape at the waist.
